Rachel Arthur, Co-Founder & Chief Innovation Officer, Current Global

Rachel Arthur is an expert in fashion, technology and sustainability. She is Co-Founder and Chief Innovation Officer of Current Global, a transformation consultancy driving growth for fashion, luxury and retail, where she leads a team of experts building innovative solutions and experiences for brands, powered by a network of top technologies and startups.

This work has included leading the strategy for Google's sustainability platform in partnership with Stella McCartney; developing the M&A strategy for Shiseido; and working on tech solutions for Gucci, Farfetch, Tiffany & Co, Burberry and more.

Rachel is also the Editor-in-Chief of the Current Daily, and co-host of its weekly Innovators podcast. She has a wealth of experience both as one of the industry’s most sought after specialists in the space, and as an award-winning business journalist. She established the first news source dedicated to fashion and technology (Fashion & Mash - acquired in 2018), and has contributed to heavyweight titles as varied as Wired, Forbes, The Business of Fashion, The NY Times, The Guardian, Wallpaper and more. She is also the co-founder of FashMash, a community uniting pioneering minds from the worlds of fashion, digital and technology.

Rachel delivered a TEDx talk in 2016 about the role technology needs to play to enable a more environmentally sustainable fashion industry, and has regularly been on stage at other international events including SXSW, CES and Cannes Lions. Rachel previously worked with Wired Consulting on all retail innovation projects, and spent eight years as senior editor of the market intelligence team at trend forecaster WGSN.

Rachel was awarded trade/B2B fashion journalist of the year by Fashion Monitor in 2015, and was previously listed in the top 20 of over 24,000 digital influencers at Cannes Lions. She has worked in London, New York and Johannesburg, and further delivered client work across the US, in South America, Australia and Asia.
